24hr Podcast 2 OLPC Laptops Purchased

I have purchased the 3 additional OLPC laptops from the donations received. Two of which were a direct result of the 24 Hour Podcast. Some will ask why have you ordered 3?

In early November I started raising funds for OLPC on Geek News Central and those Listeners had raised enough money for 3 Laptops,  2 of the three from Geek News Central Listeners had already been ordered.

During the 24hr Podcast we had enough money raised for 2 laptops and I have ordered those plus the third laptop that was still due the Geek News Central Audience.

One of the 24hr Podcast Laptop Winners opted to have his laptop sent overseas, so we have in essence sent 6 laptops to a deserving child in one of the donor countries.

I am very pleased with the outreach of everyone that was involved and it shows that this community of listeners associated with the 24hr Podcast and the Geek News Central Podcast are amazing advocates for the cause.

24P-2007-1 #1 Todd Cochrane Introduction

This is the first 30 minutes of the 24 hour podcast with Todd Cochrane talking about what will be happening over the next 24 hours with some great conversation with a bunch of people that were ready to go first thing.

The 24 Podcast is 12 hours behind me!

The 24hr Podcast started out as a way to give back to Podcasting community and the community turned out in mass to support the effort. I was able to talk with a huge lineup of podcasters, industry leaders, family friends and listeners and have a conversation that has largely been captured to share with all of you.

Not only that but we raised over $800.00 dollars for One Laptop Per Child and I am proud to send one of the laptop that was raffled off down under to Australia and one sent to a participant in the United States.

The treasure trove of Information contained in the next 24 post of hourly content was done out of my Love for the podcasting space and wanting to share what I know and get people in the space to talk about their challenges and where we go from here.

24hr Podcast Rundown and Connection Instructions

The 24hr Podcast is about 36 hours away and I wanted to share the details of the event and talk about some expectations. I really do expect this event to be very dynamic event and have planned on being very flexible.

It should be noted while we have a number of guest scheduled this does not mean that their time slots are exclusive but are to be catalyst to help drive participation in the conversation. This event is about having a open conversation where people can connect and share information.

During this event I will focus on Technology, Science, Podcasting, New Media, Life, Family etc. Every person that attends the event and calls into the live discussion area will have time to talk

You are free to plug your shows and companies. We hope that everyone will be respectfully of each participants positions. I am also hoping that some people will live blog the event to help with what is discussed throughout the event and any nuggets that may come to light.

Guest: I ask that Scheduled Guest be dialed into the Talkcast system 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appearance. It is VERY highly recommend that you call in via Land Line if possible. International guest IP based calls are ok. If you call in to the TalkCast via a IP connection make sure you have minimized all Internet Traffic on your desktop.

Participants: Please mute your phones, headsets as feedback loops get created when you have the show on your speaker with a open mic. If you do not mute your phone and cause a feedback loop into the meeting I will be forced to mute you.

How to connect. You can watch the Ustream Stream here at Geek News Central or on Ustream. To connect to the Live TalkCast Session you should go to this page and Join the TalkCast the dial in number is +1 724–444–7444 Talkcast ID is 10832
